Love my fur-babies

Well hi there. Long freakin' time no talk!
The hubs is on a 2+ month TDY, so I have been trying to keep myself busy. Good practice for D-day in October (yes, our first deployment is finally on the horizon!). This school semester is halfway over. I'm signed up for a 3-credit internship this summer at the Humane Society in Boise and I am so very excited! I think it's going to be a great experience.
We also have a new edition to the family! Say hello to no-name.
Isn't he beautiful? He a one year old shepherd I found at the humane society. He is so underweight. It is hard to tell in the picture, but he is skin, fur and bones. His hips and shoulders are so bony and his ribs are all showing, and his backbone is all ridges. His original family couldn't keep him anymore, so they left him at the shelter. A new family adopted him, but when he and their cat didn't get along, they brought him back the next day! The poor guy is pretty insecure (hence the weight loss). He is craving love and affection, and I am more than happy to oblige. He won't eat his food unless I am sitting with him. He and Tucker are getting along so well. They love playing and running in the back yard. He is doing well with the cats too! He is Mr. Air Force's dog, and we aren't sure what we are going to call him yet. His name is "Bomber," but it just doesn't suit him at all. Any name suggestions?
I'm having a good night. I have creamy potato soup in a bread bowl (yessssss!), two fat cats in my lap, and I'm watching the the "Christy" series (thank you Netflix!!!!). Did any of you watch that show when it first aired back in the day? I love Dr. Neil MacNeil =) such a sexy accent!

I like fun names for animals. Like, my cat's name is Oscar. We've actually given him a Spanish accent when we speak for him and it suits his personality quite well ;)
Staring at your new addition's picture, I think I might call him Nelson. It fits with Fred and George too! Have fun picking the name!! Hope he gets into the swing of things soon. It took my dog about 2 months to get used to me, but she had gone through a lot before I adopted her.

Potato soup in a bread bowl sounds so yummy to me right now...and these days nothing is sounding yummy! So this means you have great taste!

you should name him Marvin.
And I think it's so sweet that you adopted him. That warms my heart.

He's adorable! :) I'm in love with German Shepherds now that we have Jeb. Jeb was the same way - skin and bones when we brought him home and would eat for the first couple of weeks. Now he's a nice healthy weight...he might even be a couple of pounds over now. It just took a while.
I think one of the reasons Jeb bonded with me so quickly was because A) I'm home all day and B) he got sick right away and I took care of him. Now he's my baby. He still doesn't like to not know where I am, and if I leave the room (unless he's playing with Achilles) he has to follow me. Yesterday I went to the other room while he was turned around and he wandered around whining until he found me.
Personally, I would go for something like Patton or Ike - some historic military figure seems to fit a Shepherd, to me. That's how we got Jeb. (JEB Stewart - I wanted Stonewall, but SoldierMan nixed that.)

You are so great for taking in this beautiful dog. I SO support the adoption of animals (vs. purchasing them from a breeder). Please keep us posted on his progress.
As for a name...I'm not sure. Something strong (he is a German Shepherd after all) but sweet because...look at that face!
What about Franz, Fritz, Frederik, George or Henry (names of past German royalty or politicians!). My vote is to name him after some important German guy. :)

Congrats on the new addition! He's a real cutie! But then again I'm partial to German Shepherds, having one of my own and all. ;)
Ours is named Zeus, he came with the name and we just didn't bother changing it. It suites him well though, cause he totally thinks he's king of the house. If I'd had my way (and he didn't have a name) I would have named him Tiberius. But I'm a total Star Trek fan and my husband thinks it's wayyy too nerdy, so it'll probably never happen. Lol! :D
